On December 5, 2019, Amanda Gibney, Dean of the School of Civil Engineering, University of Dublin, Ireland, visited the School of Highway and had a discussion with the teacher representatives from departments of roads, bridges, tunnels, transportation and international education centers in the second meeting room of the 607 building of the Transportation Technology Building. The symposium was presided over by Professor Wang Hainian, Vice Dean of the School of Highway.
Prof. Wang Hainian delivered a welcoming speech on behalf of the college and introduced the history, disciplines and personnel training of the School of Highway. Ma Feng, deputy director of the Institute of Roads, Wang Xiaoming, deputy director of the Institute of Bridges, Liang Guohua, deputy director of the Institute of Transportation, and Xue Zhijia of the Institute of Rock Tunnels introduced the research directions, facilities and frontiers of various disciplines in different department, respectively. Dean Amanda Gibney expressed highly approbation of the scientific research strength and experimental facilities of the School of Highway. She also gave a detailed introduction to the faculty composition and research fields of the Civil Engineering Department in Dublin University, and expressed her expectation for the deepening of the cooperation between Changan University and Dublin University in the future scientific research. Teachers of both sides attending the meeting actively discussed and conducted in-depth exchanges based on their teaching and research experiences.
In addition, the two sides discussed various topics such as joint doctoral training and international scientific research projects. This discussion deepened the mutual understanding between the School of Civil Engineering, University of Dublin, Ireland, and the School of Highway, Chang'an University, and laid a good foundation for the future application of doctoral joint training projects and scientific research cooperation.
